Riverside

An offering in the form of poetry.

I am on a journey to lay down these burdens.
letting go of what is too heavy
weights never meant for me to bear. 
come with me. 
hear me speak. 
my truth remains unfiltered. 
my soul open
at this riverside, I am putting it all to rest. 
my bones ache, and my thoughts are muddled. 
mama taught me it’s okay to yell mercy. 
at the riverside, I will release
as my tears merge with the current.  
enough pain for two of me, for two lifetimes. 
Sister, come with me
To the riverside. 
I want to be baptized
So I can start anew.
